Software development for a Pipetting Helper Imaging Lid (PHIL) used for biomedical applications
Atrial Fibrillation (AF) is a serious health status affecting 33 million worldwide. The drug development for AF is cost intensive and a time-consuming process. Organ-on-Chip technology has the potential to revolutionize drug development. While conventional processes involve animal testing, this number can be reduced significantly by using human based cells.
PHIL is a pipetting robot that is supposed to be used in a cell culture incubator for medium exchange for the cells, in order to constantly keep them supplied with nutrients.
The mechanical part and the electronics are already developed and assembled. However, the software that was designed is not finished. The internship involves finalizing the Arduino code and the GUI, developed in .NET Avalonia. Further, medium exchange routines need to be added to the software.
